Comments: The Japanese food might be good but the service when making a reservation is unfriendly and against handicapped people. When asking for a reservation for a person with wheelchair it was refused. A reservation for five person refused . Japanese policy. We lived for eleven years in Japan but have never experienced such bad behavior .

Comments: Excellent sushi! Definitely order the lunch specials if you can, much cheaper than dinner prices. Only disappointing thing (in my opinion) is the sodas - they're in small (10 oz) glass bottles and are $2.50 each. I'd rather have a can for $1 - $2.

Comments: Went last night on a Sunday. Great sushi... Casual and cool. Have been going here longer than anyone else, regardless what was said by our neighbors (Jackie) eating next to us that claimed more tenure... She was wrong

Comments: The atmosphere is relaxed and the sushi is standard at this Japanese spot. One strip of exposed brick might remind you that you're in Nolita, but the only other noticeable design accents are the few small frames peppering mostly bare, butter yellow walls. What makes Mottsu unique is its lack of pretension in this sometimes pretentious ‘hood. Locals go for reliable fare and a break from the 30-minute waits typical of nearby tourist-trap restaurants. A lengthy menu dominated by basic sushi and sashimi is spiced up with chef's specials like the Rose Roll (shrimp tempura topped with spicy tuna) and the Tiger Roll (spicy tuna topped with salmon). There are also several reliably tasty hot dishes, including rock shrimp tempura and filet mignon teriyaki.

Comments: Great lunch spot. I was born and raised in Tokyo. I went to the best fish market in the world, Tsukiji in Tokyo to eat sushi. I know how to make great sushi at home without spending a lot of money.
Whenever I go out to eat sushi, I feel sushi business is making a great profit. Sometimes I can not justify myself to pay so much for small portions.
This place is basic simple sushi place yet pr icy. I found the portion is small. I am not a big person but I don't feel full after lunch.
It is nice to have a sushi place around that neighborhood. If you want to save money, you can go to Sunrise mart. Take out sushi is very cheap. I paid $3.79 for rolls with salmon.

Comments: five stars for sushi chef Steve! He's back and as creative as ever
Some stuff is a bargain (red snapper sushi with black truffle sauce) and others are overpriced ($3 miso soup!). Then again you are in SOHO eating at a sushi joint... The twilight special is a real deal so get there between 4pm -7pm. I had an entree, appetizer, soup, and ice cream for $18.
Along with Japanese beers, sake and wines are served as well.
